What it is
A full service is the yearly service most manufacturers expect. Ours covers the oil, oil filter and air filter, a vehicle health check, fluid top ups, a diagnostics print out and an interior hoover.
The point is not just to change consumables, but to spot wear early. A worn bush, a perished hose or a thin brake disc is far cheaper to deal with when it is caught on a ramp than when it fails on the road.
Keeping a record of regular full services also helps when you come to sell the car, and is often a condition of keeping a manufacturer warranty valid.
When to book it
- It has been about a year or your manufacturer’s mileage interval since the last full service
- The service light or reminder is on
- You have just bought a used car with patchy or unknown history
- The MOT is coming up and you want the car checked over first
- Something feels different, such as noises, vibration or a soft brake pedal
How we handle it
Book online with your reg and pick a time. Abid works on all makes and models and services the car to what it needs, not a one-size checklist.
If he spots something that needs attention, you get a clear explanation and a price first. You decide what goes ahead, and costs are agreed upfront so there are no surprises at collection.
What to expect
- Book a slot online with your reg
- Leave the car with Abid at the workshop in Grays
- Kept updated if anything needs your decision
- Collect and get walked through what was found and done
Questions answered
How often should I have a full service?
Most manufacturers recommend a full service every 12 months or at a set mileage, whichever comes first. Check your handbook or service schedule, as some cars run on variable intervals shown on the dash.
Does an independent garage service affect my manufacturer warranty?
In the UK you are generally free to use an independent garage without affecting your warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses parts of suitable quality. Keep your receipts and service record.
What happens if you find something wrong?
You are told what it is, why it matters and what it will cost before any extra work starts. You can approve it, leave it for later, or ask questions first.
Do you service performance cars as well as everyday cars?
Yes. Abidworks works on all makes and models, from family cars to performance cars like the ones you will see outside the workshop.
