What it is
Over time, washing, weather and road grime leave fine scratches and swirl marks in the clear coat on top of your paint. These scatter light and make the paint look dull, especially in sunlight.
Machine polishing removes a tiny layer of clear coat to level out those marks, bringing back clarity and gloss. How much work it takes depends on how marked the paint is, which is why it is quoted per car.
Polishing improves what is there; it cannot fix scratches that have gone through the clear coat to the colour or primer underneath.
When to book it
- Swirl marks or spider-web scratches visible in sunlight
- Paint that looks flat, dull or faded
- Light marks from car washes or brushes
- You are preparing to sell the car or want it looking its best
- You are planning PPF or ceramic coating and want the paint corrected first
How we handle it
Request a quote with your reg and some clear photos of the paint, ideally in daylight. WhatsApp photos are fine. Abid looks at the condition, in person if needed, and prices it on that.
You get a clear price before work starts. Once you approve it, the car is booked in, and you are walked through the result when you collect.
What to expect
- Request a quote with your reg and photos of the paint
- Condition assessed before pricing
- A clear price agreed upfront, then booked in
- Collect and see the finished paintwork
Questions answered
Will polishing remove all scratches?
It removes or reduces marks in the clear coat. A scratch you can catch with a fingernail is often too deep to polish out completely and may need paintwork instead.
Why is polishing quoted rather than a fixed price?
Every car’s paint is different. A lightly marked car needs far less work than one with heavy swirls, so pricing on the condition keeps it fair.
How do I stop swirls coming back?
Gentle washing with clean mitts, avoiding brush car washes and drying with soft towels makes a big difference. A ceramic coating or PPF adds extra protection.
