What it is
Paint protection film (PPF) is a clear film applied over painted panels. It acts as a physical barrier against stone chips, light scuffs and road debris, and is popular on front ends, bonnets, mirrors and other areas that take the most hits.
A ceramic coating is a liquid applied to the paint that bonds to it and leaves a hard, glossy, water-repellent layer. It makes the car easier to clean and helps protect against contamination, but it does not stop stone chips the way film does.
The two can work together: film on the high-impact areas and coating over the rest. Either way, the paint should be clean and corrected first, because anything underneath is sealed in.

Questions answered
What is the difference between PPF and ceramic coating?
PPF is a physical film that protects against chips and scuffs. Ceramic coating is a hard, glossy layer that repels water and dirt but does not stop impacts. They solve different problems and are often combined.
Should the paint be polished before protection goes on?
Usually, yes. Film and coatings lock in whatever is underneath, so swirls and marks are best corrected first.
How do I look after a coated or wrapped car?
Hand wash gently, avoid harsh chemicals and brush car washes, and follow the aftercare advice you are given at collection.
